I'm a little disappointed I won't be getting a Dragon Mask. I was out of the country during the first Dragon Festival (a no gaming business trip). I'm sure the demon mask will be great, but I've been waiting a year in hopes for some sort of Dragon Mask (seems Dragon and Tengu, my favourites, are two I will never acquire).

Maybe next year ;_;

So don't go calling me dumb when I happen to have done testing on it.
Your 'testing' simply cannot have been done correctly, because you cannot go back in time OR know all the parameters affecting loot scaling since you are not a Dev. Yet, you persist in claiming apriori knowledge which you cannot possibly possess (differing from religion in that someone alive does know, just not you). I can measure someone's skull and claim that it actively reflects their intelligence (actually was a real life 'scientific' experiment'). That experiment is flawed because it fails to take into consideration ALL possible variables which could affect the data. They didn't know then what those variables were, just as you don't... by the way, your argument is holier than the pope. I really was talking about the loot scaling, not the idiocy of farming mantids normal mode, but that's dumb too.
When you can show me _real_ data from 2 times since loot scaling supporting your argument that loot scaling has been 'removed' from lowby areas (those 2 times would be post loot scaling, but before this removal, and presently) I might believe the argument has merit. but you cant. Did you ever consider loot scaling might just be different in areas with smaller party size caps?

Hey, if they're as easy to obtain as the Jade Wind Orbs last year, it should be a cynch.

They'll probably be rewards for the "missions", just like the Orbs were rewards for the quests last year.

Thank you ANET for the coming weekend, I'll be earning my lucky and unlucky.

Hurray for the Festival! I got Factions only a month ago, and I was disappointed that I missed the previous Festival. I'm glad I'll get a chance to experience it.

Ah, I don't really know how easy the orbs were to get last year since I missed it by a few weeks.

I'm pissed that I have had 70 Jade Wind Orbs taking up a slot in my storage for the past year and they won't be reused.

Oh well, still a nice momento from the past I suppose.

Yay. Nice one, A.Net. I was quite sad when I thought we wouldn't get the festival this year, it was great fun last time.

To the event: Well, cool! I liked saving the town from ultimate destruction from the grasps, etc. Maybe there'll be those difficult quests again, maybe with better rewards? Pweaze Anet?

And of course, there's the ever awesome, ever kick-ass Dragon Arena. FPS strafe action ftw, baby.

Way to be enthusiastic. I mean Anet could not have given us a special weekend at all. Or we could have gotten double dye drop again! I mean everyone looks forward to that.

I am happy the Canthan festival is going to happen again. I am definately going to take a visit the dragon arena again. I love playing there and it gives me a reason to go back to Cantha which I really liked contrary to the amount of people who said it sucked.

Last year you needed Jade Wind Orbs. They dropped from everything. Mantid are extremely easy to kill.

I tested it just a few hours ago. After the first 5 kills all monsters dropped me something (wepons or gold). I could go do it again right now, and if it would make you happy, I could make a neat little chart.

EDIT: Too lazy to make a chart right now. However, With some further testing, I have numbers that you will most likely be able to duplicate every run you try.

Experiment done in Kinya Province (exiting from Ran Musu Gardens)

1. Must be done in Normal Mode.
2. The drops from the first 10 (sometimes less, never more) kills must be ignored.
3. All monsters following those first 10 will have a 100% rate of dropping something (weapon, collectible item or gold).

Try it yourself if you don't believe me. And if you're own speech has any meaning to you; unless you can give me more than a couple instances of those rules being broken, I am right.

Also, while true they might not have "removed" loot scaling, it sure isn't making things drop less (like it does in high level areas). From that observation, it is rather conclusive to say that it has most likely had its effect removed. Since no one can prove that the drop rates for the first 10 kills has anything to do with Loot Scaling, it is just easier, and probably right to say that Loot Scaling has been removed from that area.

By the way. The spot makes for a nice bit of dye farming, since there doesn't seem to be any form of Loot Scaling in effect.

Aww...I've still got 250 Jade Wind Orbs from last year just waiting to be re-used....

This is going to make it even harder for my brother to get me the mask this weekend while I'm gone...

Well useless trying to convince a person who decided long before they even posted. What do you want me to do, call up a person who works on loot scaling and ask them? Testing in game is the closest thing to data we can usually get.

Oh by the way. I used to kill Mantid before they introduced Loot Scaling. Back then, the Mantid almost always dropped something. Occasionally one might not drop anything, but that was rare. Might not be in a neat little chart like you'd like, but it was done before Loot Scaling. If you don't trust my memory, then too bad for you, I happen to have a very good memory. Otherwise, as they say; ignorance is bliss.

P.S. Look at this thread. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10171465

I dont know if it works really but I think if I give you mine, you can do a check to the hat trader and you can make it at your own. Never tested before but maybe it will work.

Soooooooo, ive been waiting for a year to have a chance of getting a dragon mask, now they come up with this UGLY thing, seriously im dissapointed.

Still that doesnt mean i dont care about it, i will be there and i will have my fun. but its lame not to get a dragon mask.

Anet do me a favor and implement them both, just tweak the eyes of the current dragon mask a bit and its a different one.Whats a dragon fest without dragons masks?!?!?

Cheers
